Entropy Revisited: The Plausible Role of Gravitation

چکیده
We first present open questions related to the foundations of thermodynamics and statistical physics. We then argue that in principle one can not have “closed systems”, and that a universal background should exist. We propose that the gravitational field plays this role, due to its vanishing energy-momentum tensor. This leads to a new possible picture, in which entropy and irreversibility in macroscopic systems emerge from their coupling to the background gravitational

Bulk Viscous Bianchi Type VI0 Cosmological Model in the Self-creation Theory of Gravitation and in the General Theory of Relativity
In the second self-creation theory of gravitation and in the general theory of relativity, Bianchi type VI0 cosmological model in the presence of viscous fluid is studied. An exact solution of the field equations is given by considering the cosmological model yields a constant decelerations parameter q=constant and the coefficients of the metric are taken as A(t)=[c1t+c<su...
متن کاملBertrand’s Paradox Revisited: More Lessons about that Ambiguous Word, Random
The Bertrand paradox question is: “Consider a unit-radius circle for which the length of a side of an inscribed equilateral triangle equals 3 . Determine the probability that the length of a ‘random’ chord of a unit-radius circle has length greater than 3 .” Bertrand derived three different ‘correct’ answers, the correctness depending on interpretation of the word, random. Here we employ geomet...
متن کاملQuantum Corrections to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of the BTZ Black Hole via Self-Gravitation
Hawking radiation is viewed as a tunnelling process. In this way the effect of selfgravitation gives rise to quantum corrections to the entropy of the (2+1) BTZ black hole. The modified entropy, due to specific modelling of the self-gravitation effect, of the (2+1) BTZ black hole is evaluated. To first order in ω which is a shell of energy radiated outwards the event horizon of the BTZ black ho...
متن کاملQuantum Corrections to the Bekestein-Hawking entropy of the BTZ Black Hole via Self-Gravitation
Hawking radiation is viewed as a tunnelling process. In this way the effect of selfgravitation gives rise to quantum corrections to the entropy of the (2+1) BTZ black hole. The entropy is proportional to the horizon area and the quantum corrections to the Bekenstein-Hawking formula S = AH/4l P are found to be negative.
